John D. Kasarda
President, Aerotropolis Institute China
|
John D. Kasarda is the leading developer of the Aerotropolis concept defining the roles of aviation and airports in shaping 21st-century logistics processes, business location, and urban economic growth. He is President of the Aerotropolis Institute China, Director of the Center for Air Commerce at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, and President and CEO of Aerotropolis Business Concepts LLC. He also serves as the editor-in-chief of Logistics, an international scholarly journal.
Dr. Kasarda has published more than 100 articles and ten books on aviation infrastructure, logistics, and urban development. He is frequently quoted in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, and the international media. His book, Aerotropolis: The Way We’ll Live Next (co-authored with Greg Lindsay), was featured in Time Magazine in 2011 as one of the “10 Ideas that will change the world”.
Dr. Kasarda has offered numerous workshops on aerotropolis development, logistics infrastructure, and global supply-chain management to airports, governments and multinational firms, many of which he has advised. He obtained his B.S. and M.B.A. (with Distinction) from Cornell University and his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The recipient of many grants and awards, Dr. Kasarda has been elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for his research on airport-driven economic development and is a former Senior Fellow and Trustee of the Urban Land Institute.

Min Jae Chun
Executive Director, Airport Economic Zone Group, Incheon International Airport Corporation
|
Minjae Chun serves as Executive Director for the Airport Economic Zone Group of Incheon International Airport. He oversees Incheon airport economic zone development planning, investment promotion and management.
Since 2010, he has shown an excellent performance in developing a master plan; managing regulatory affair; supervising design and construction; revising the law related with airport city development; and improving an investment promotion system while in charge of airport city development that Incheon airport carried forward to support airport and create aviation demand.
In addition, he contributed to boosting the regional and national economy by attracting more than 2.5 billion dollars in domestic and foreign investments for airport-related recreational facilities : Paradise City, the first Casino Integrated Resort in Korea ; Inspire integrated resort; and Nest Hotel.
As a professional civil engineer, Mr. Chun played an important role in setting up world-class infrastructure of Incheon airport by planning and managing construction projects for access road, parking lot, utility tunnel and other infrastructures.

Pieter van der Horst

|
Pieter is an expert in airport city / aerotropolis development and in generating non-aviation revenues. He is the Managing Director of AIREA, an Airport City development and consultancy firm and is Airport City expert at NACO, Netherlands Airport Consultancy. He is also co-owner of the Airport City Academy.
In the past Pieter worked for Schiphol Real Estate, a 100% subsidiary of the Schiphol Group. At Amsterdam Airport Schiphol he was responsible for the development (and master planning) of the landside part of the airport (the Airport City), which includes a.o. the central area (Schiphol CBD) and the commercial Real Estate in this area. After working for the Schiphol Group for more than 10 years, he became Chief Commercial & Development Officer at IKIA Tehran Airport City and worked in this role for almost two years until the sanctions on Iran were reestablished by the USA at the end of 2018. Before he started working for the Schiphol Group he was a.o. CEO of a development & construction company, financial advisor on several infrastructural projects and project manager of several building projects.
He has gained experience in real estate and area development, airport real estate, non-aviation revenues, airport city strategy development, (new) business development, investment analysis, feasibility studies, regional economic development, urban economics, general management, SMART technologies, innovation, project directing, (airport) master planning and program management.
Pieter is a guest lecturer for a.o. ACI, PTE, SMART AIRPORTS, GTI, CAPA and UBM-Kasarda on courses about non-aviation revenues and speaks regularly about airport cities / aerotropoli and regional economic development.
Pieter completed a Master of Science in Business and Urban Economics, a Postdoc in Financial Management and a Master in Real Estate with honors (cum laude).

Peter Harbison is Chairman Emeritus of CAPA - Centre for Aviation (“CAPA”), formerly the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation), headquartered in Sydney, with offices in, Delhi, Hong Kong, London, Singapore and Washington.
Peter established CAPA in 1990. It is now the world’s largest daily publisher of B2B commercial aviation and corporate travel information, data and executive analysis. In Jan-2019, CAPA joined with the Aviation Week group, as part of UK company Informa Ltd.
CAPA also produces high level industry strategy Summits in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas, covering aviation and corporate travel.
Peter is an aviation lawyer, specialising in aviation regulatory policy and bilateral agreements and is a consultant and commentator on industry issues. His career in aviation comprises more than 50 years, in government and in industry.

Lisa Duval

Lisa Duval is currently Director - Asia Pacific for Delta Air Lines and is based in Seoul partnering with Korean Air. Since launching the joint venture in May 2018, Delta and Korean Air operate the industry’s most robust trans-Pacific joint venture, providing customers with seamless access to more than 290 destinations in the U.S. and over 80 destinations in Asia, including the partnership’s award-winning hub at Seoul-Incheon (ICN).
Lisa is an aviation expert with over 28 years of diverse operational experience. She has held several positions at Delta including Director – In-Flight Service Safety and Field Support, Director –Fuel and Operations Support in the Operations Control Center and General Manager – Fuel and Air Traffic Management in Flight Operations. Lisa spearheaded the launch of on-board customer satisfaction surveys and supported the development of technology to enhance the cabin experience. Lisa chaired the Delta Fuel Council from 1999-2010 and served on NavCanada’s Advisory Board and numerous local and international industry working groups to increase airport and airspace capacity and efficiency. Lisa’s industry experience also includes serving as Manager – Technical / Financial Liaison at IATA in Brussels, Belgium where she influenced the development of European policies regarding airport and airspace management.
Lisa holds a Master of Business Administration from Emory University and a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and international management from Georgetown University, from which she graduated cum laude.

Ki Han Song

Dr. Song joined Korea Transport Institute in 2009 and currently he is a research fellow and Chief Director of the department of aviation. He fulfilled the role as the director of division for aviation policy & information analysis and Center for Airport and Aircraft Noise & Environment by 2016.
He graduated from Seoul National University in 2000, granted a degree of PhD, School of Civil, Urban and Geosystem Engineering in 2007 and he worked as a post-doc researcher in UC Berkeley from 2008 to 2009. During his degree course, he experienced as a researcher, a guest researcher and a researcher assistant at Seoul National University.
He achieved the Engineer Information Processing License in 1999 and the Professional Engineer Transportation License in 2008. He has more than 30 publications and presented professional papers at national and international conferences. He conducted more than 50 projects by 2018.
Currently, he is conducting various researches related to aviation policies such as national aviation strategy, international and domestic airport's master plan, airport noise policy, aviation safety IT system as well as any aviation policies from Open Skies to technical issues.

Anming Zhang

|
Anming Zhang is a Full Professor in Operations and Logistics and holds Vancouver International Airport Authority Chair Professor in Air Transportation at Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia (UBC).
He served as the Head of the Operations and Logistics Division, Sauder School of Business (2003-2005), and as the Director of UBC’s Centre for Transport Studies (2003-2004). He is President-elect of the World Air Transport Research Society (ATRS) and the President-elect of Transportation and Public Utilities Group (TPUG) of American Economic Association.
Dr. Zhang is the recipient of the “Yokohama Special Prize for Outstanding Young Researcher” awarded at the 7th World Conference on Transportation Research (WCTR) in Sydney, Australia in 1995, and of the “WCTR-Society Prize”, awarded to the overall best paper of the 8th WCTR in Antwerp, Belgium, in 1998. In June 2014, he won the “Best Overall Paper Prize” at the annual ITEA (International Transport Economics Association) Conference on Transportation Economics, Toulouse School of Economics, France. Currently, he is also the Vice Present (Publications) of WCTR.
Dr. Zhang has published about 180 refereed journal papers and 30 book chapters in the areas of transportation, logistics, industrial organization, and Chinese economy. He has co-authored two books: Globalization and Strategic Alliances: The Case of the Airline Industry, 2000, Pergamon Press, Oxford; and Air Cargo in Mainland China and Hong Kong, 2004, Ashgate, London (Chinese editions published both in Hong Kong and Mainland China).

|
Joost Zuidberg is a senior researcher at SEO Amsterdam Economics. He has over 12 years of experience with applied economic research in the aviation industry. He specialises in analysing aviation networks, benchmarking airport charges, the development of low-cost carrier networks, and the financial management of airlines and airports.
Joost leads research projects for public and private parties in the Netherlands and abroad. His clients include KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, Airport Coordination Netherlands, Eindhoven Airport, the European Commission, and Ryanair.
In addition, Joost has published his work in many international scientific journals, in particular on the development of low-cost carrier networks and the leading indicators for the profitability of airports and airlines. Michael Stanton-Geddes

|
Michael Stanton-Geddes is responsible for ACI EUROPE’s activities regarding airport charges and economic regulation, ground handling, competition and state aid. He oversees ACI EUROPE’s research agenda on airport economics and airport connectivity and contribution of European airports to economic development. He is involved intensively in discussions about the framework for economic regulation of airport charges at a national and European level, representing airports to the European Commission and the European forum of national airport charges regulators (“the Thessaloniki Forum”). His focus is on ensuring that economic regulation of airports evolves in step with the shifts in the air transport sector.
Prior to joining ACI EUROPE, Michael held a number of roles at Fleishman-Hillard where he advised companies and associations in the air transport sector. He covered the aerospace sector as an analyst at the International Trade Commission, assessing international trade flows and competitiveness of global manufacturers. He also worked for General Electric’s global policy team and was a consultant on international trade and energy policy to the World Bank.
Michael has a BA in International Relations from Tufts University and an MA in International Economics and international trade theory from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. An American national, Michael speaks French and Slovak.

Mingfong Tsao
General Manager, Finance Department, Taoyuan International Airport Corporation Ltd
|
Mingfong Tsao was named General Manager of the Finance Department at Taoyuan International Airport Corporation in January 2015. In this role, he is responsible for all the matters with financial planning, funding strategies developing, airport charges as well as investment opportunities appraisal.
In 2015, he led the team that successfully raised the passenger service charge of the airport from NT$300 to NT$500 per person — the first increase in 27 years. The revenue splits portion from the passenger service charge to the airport was also increased from 40% to 50%. Meanwhile, the restructuring process of airport charges schemes had also begun. The new airport charges schemes were approved and implemented on September 1st, 2017. Those proposals increased the aeronautical revenue of Taoyuan Airport Corporation more than NT$ 3 billion per year.
He first joined Taoyuan Airport in 2010 as a senior manager with the responsibility to implement the corporatized project of the airport. Before joining the Taoyuan International Airport Corporation, Mr. Tsao served as deputy senior researcher of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Taiwan R.O.C. Before that, he held various positions of the direct investment and oversea investment department in China development Industrial Bank (also known as “CDIB”), which was a major corporate Venture Capital in Asia. Mr. Tsao has his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from National Taiwan University.

Vinoop GOEL

|
Vinoop Goel is the Asia-Pacific Regional Director of Airports & External Relations for IATA. He is based at their Asia Pacific regional office in Singapore. Vinoop leads a team that is responsible for all IATA's activities in the Asia-Pacific region relating to Airport Regulation & Operations, Passenger Facilitation & Experience, Baggage, Ground handling, Cargo Supply chain, Security and Fuel Supply. In addition to this, Vinoop also heads the Member & External Relations department for the region that is responsible for IATA membership and government policy issues such as environment, taxation and aviation regulatory matters.
Vinoop has a degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT, Delhi in India. He has almost 3 decades of aviation industry experience including a 15 year stint in Japan and has been with IATA since 2005.

Antoine Rostworowski

|
Mr. Rostworowski graduated from Concordia University in Fine Arts in 1987 and from Université de Montréal in Business at H.E.C. (Hautes Études Commerciales) in Marketing in 1991. In 2010 he received an Executive Certificate in Strategy and Innovation from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He has 27 years of airline/airport experience at the Management level in Operations, Marketing and Finance.
On the airline side, he worked for Canada 3000 airlines where he managed operations for Montreal and certain other regions. He later worked for at Air Canada’s Corporate Real Estate department, managing the airline’s real estate installations for different cities, as well as rates and charges at different airports. On the airport side, he joined Aéroports de Montréal’s (ADM) Business Development department in 2003, having as his main objective the identification of new types of products, services and technologies to be introduced at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport to improve passenger processes and increase revenues. He was also tasked with anticipating the evolution of the installations according to technological changes in the industry.
He joined ACI World in early 2015 to provide guidance and support to the airport community in terms of standards, recommended practices and industry collaboration to identify how to best improve airport efficiency, the passenger processes and the overall travel experience while ensuring safety and security at all touchpoints of the journey. His responsibilities at ACI World include Airport Security, Facilitation, IT, ACI Airport Service Quality (ASQ), APEX and Global Training programmes.

Kadri Samsunlu

Kadri Samsunlu has been the Chief Executive Officer of IGA Airport Corporation since September 2017. Samsunlu has been leading IGA Airport Operation as well as IGA Construction since 2018 and completed the integration of superstructure arm of IGA Construction into IGA Airport Operation in the beginning of 2019. Samsunlu aims to ensure that Istanbul Airport, Turkey's vision project will be a leading regional hub.
Samsunlu, having worked as the general manager and the executive committee member of various investment companies in 1995 – 2006, acted as an investment and corporate finance counselor in Romania and Turkey for three years after 2006.
Samsunlu, having been CFO of Akfen Holding from 2009 until 2017, led many processes in this period, ranging from the launch of the first infrastructure Eurobond, to the realization of various PPP (Public-Private Partnerships) projects, finance management in tourism, real estate, energy marine transportation and airport sectors projects and mergers & acquisitions of the Holding Co. Samsunlu also worked as part of the public offering and delisting process of Akfen Holding. Akfen Holding and its subsidiaries received many international awards during his tenure. Samsunlu worked as a member of TAV Airport Holding executive board and audit committee between 2009 and 2012.
Kadri Samsunlu was born on the 17th of December in 1968. He completed his undergraduate studies in Bosphorus University, Department of Economy in 1991. He then finalized his MBA degree in University of Missouri, USA.
A member of the Association of Listed Companies' Executives, Çorum Education Association, Fenerbahçe Sports Club, Missouri Society of CPAs, among other non-governmental organizations, Kadri Samsunlu is married with three kids.

Vimal Rai, Founder & Managing Director of TRACE Consulting, is a veteran travel practitioner. Having lived and worked in 8 cities and travelled to countless others, Vimal is driven by the pursuit of Customer Excellence within the travel, retail and aviation ecosystem. He has led an enviable career across multiple domains including passenger and cargo sales and operations, customer service, in-flight products and services, in-flight content and connectivity, travel retail and most recently, brand, product and services marketing on social media.
Always fascinated by the impact of technology on business and consumer behaviour, since 2016, Vimal has also invested in and mentored travel tech startups who are out to redefine how travel providers attract, engage and retain customers.
